Dino on Domestic Abuse:

Claim: Rossi voted to deny unemployment benefits to domestic abuse victims who flee their homes and jobs for safety.

Fact: Dino voted to give unemployment benefits to women in need of finding new employment when facing domestic abuse. The issue was who should pay the benefits.  Dino voted to have those benefits paid by the state rather than innocent small business owners.

That’s why he voted in favor of an amendment to this bill (SB 5189 Amendment 20) that would have funded every dollar in this proposal to help domestic violence victims, but instead of turning the cost on employers in the form of higher unemployment costs, money for the program would have come from the public safety account in the state’s general fund.

Dino strongly believes in helping the most vulnerable in our state, and offering support for victims of domestic violence should be a priority for everyone, not just businesses.
